Modeling the Monsoon

At CCCR we use the NCEP Climate Forecast System v2 (CFSv2) and the ESMv1 (developed in-house), for climate variability studies, numerical experiments and climate projections.

A few of the model sensitivity studies carried out at the Climate Research Lab are:

Sensitivity experiments – Relative role of tropical oceans on the climate variability

In order to investigate the relative role of sea surface temperatures (SST) in each ocean basin in modulating the tropical climate variability and the monsoon, we perform sensitivity-coupled experiments, where the SST is corrected in each basin separately.

Indian Ocean warming and the south Asian monsoon

Model sensitivity experiments to examine the impact of Indian Ocean warming on the monsoon characteristics and distribution.
